Boston students showcase learning projects at New Balance track event

The Mendon-Upton Regional School District held a School Committee meeting on April 7, 2025, focusing on various educational initiatives and upcoming events. The meeting highlighted the importance of student engagement and innovative learning experiences.

One of the key discussions centered around the upcoming applied learning showcase for fourth graders, scheduled for May. This event will take place at the New Balance track in Boston and will feature presentations from students involved in various projects. Notably, cybersecurity students and multiple teams from the Gateway program will showcase their design projects, demonstrating the practical applications of their learning.

Additionally, students from the ST Math program will present how their puzzles connect to real-world mathematics used in industry jobs. This emphasis on authentic learning reflects the district's commitment to integrating practical skills into the curriculum.

The meeting also addressed professional development for staff, with plans for Project-Based Learning (PBL) training for middle school teachers. By the end of the month, nearly all middle school staff will have participated in this training, including new teachers who joined the district. The next Inspired Learning Day is set for June 6, with planning already underway.
