Tennessee lawmakers debate constitutional amendment on firearm regulation standards

Committee members engaged in a robust discussion, with some questioning the implications of the proposed changes. Representative Johnson pointed out the alarming rates of gun violence among children in Tennessee, suggesting that the amendment could undermine protections currently in place.

The committee ultimately voted to advance the resolution to the Finance, Ways, and Means Committee, with a vote of 14 in favor and 7 against.
