Midland City Council approves $210K in changes for Paul Davis Wellfield Project

The Midland City Council convened on April 8, 2025, to address several key agenda items, focusing primarily on infrastructure improvements and community services.

The meeting commenced with a motion to authorize change orders number 4 and 5 with Hydro Resources, Mid Continent Incorporated, related to the Paul Davis Wellfield Development Project. The council approved an additional $210,847.50 to enhance system performance and address unforeseen field conditions. Council members emphasized the importance of water supply, particularly following recent water issues in the city. The change orders will increase the production capacity of five new public water system wells from 3 million gallons to approximately 3.5 million gallons per day. This adjustment is part of a broader strategy to ensure a sustainable water source, with plans for a reverse osmosis pilot plant to treat the water, aiming to eventually provide an additional 10 to 12 million gallons per day.

Following this, the council discussed a resolution to approve a contract with Nuvo Technology Services LP for the construction and installation of a new cart barn at Hogan Golf Course, totaling $1.32 million. The existing cart barn, over 20 years old, requires replacement due to increased demand for storage and maintenance of golf carts. The new facility will include modern amenities and is expected to be completed by September 2025 without disrupting play on the course. The Parks and Recreation Director provided insights into the overall improvement plans for Hogan Golf Course, including a master plan currently being developed by a golf course architect, with concepts expected to be presented soon.
