County projects transportation revenue shortfall of $490M amid growth and cost increases

The proposed fee increases could potentially raise transportation revenues to between $184 million and $578 million over the next two decades, depending on the adopted fee levels. If the county were to implement fees at 70% to 75% of the calculated rates, it could effectively address the projected shortfall.

The workshop also set the stage for future discussions, with a second workshop scheduled for May 6 and an adoption hearing on May 23. Any approved fee increases would take effect nine days after the hearing. As Marion County continues to experience high growth levels, the decisions made in these upcoming meetings will be pivotal in shaping the county's transportation infrastructure and ensuring it meets the needs of its residents.
