Marga introduces St. Cloud's Open Meeting Technologies to enhance Tennessee county meetings

The White County Commission meeting on April 8, 2025, introduced a new legislative meeting software aimed at enhancing the efficiency and transparency of local government proceedings. The Open Meeting Technologies system, presented by representatives from the company, promises to streamline the way meetings are conducted, making it easier for both commissioners and the public to engage with the process.

This innovative software will provide a visual aid during meetings, displaying real-time information such as which commissioners are present, the current agenda item, and the results of votes. The system is already in use by approximately 25 counties in Tennessee, including Anderson and Roan, which have reported positive experiences over the years.

Key features of the system include a user-friendly tablet for commissioners that simplifies the voting process and allows them to request to speak without needing to navigate complex software. This tablet will automatically display the necessary options at the right time during meetings, ensuring that commissioners can focus on the discussion rather than technical details.

The public will benefit from improved transparency, as the system allows for a clear display of meeting proceedings, which can be streamed online. This feature aims to enhance public trust and confidence in local government by making it easier for residents to follow along with the discussions and decisions being made.
