Hinton County Schools honors Coach Chris Dawson and DJ Key as employees of the month

The Hickman County Board of Education held its April 2025 meeting on April 8, where significant recognitions were made for outstanding employees and the successful performance of the high school boys' basketball team.

During the meeting, Coach Chris Dawson was honored as Employee of the Month for his exceptional contributions to Hickman County Schools. He has revitalized school spirit and pride through his leadership in athletics, particularly with state appearances in golf and basketball. Beyond his coaching duties, Dawson engages with students daily, fostering their confidence and sense of belonging within the school community.

Additionally, Athletic Director DJ Key was also recognized as Employee of the Month. His dedication and leadership were highlighted, particularly for his role in coordinating two weeks of district and regional basketball tournaments hosted at Hickman County High School. Key's commitment to the athletic programs and his ability to manage complex events with minimal assistance were praised by his colleagues, who noted his significant impact on both the school and the community.

The meeting also celebrated the Hickman County High School boys' basketball team, which had a remarkable season. The team finished with a perfect 6-0 record in their district and secured the district championship. Their successful postseason journey included victories that led them to the state tournament for the second consecutive year.
