Charlotte's City Council is moving forward with an ambitious project aimed at revitalizing Symphony Park, with construction set to begin in the summer of 2026 and completion expected in 2027. The initiative, which involves collaboration with county officials and private partners, seeks to enhance public amenities and foster economic growth in the South Park area.
During a recent committee meeting, city representatives discussed the ongoing negotiations with county staff to secure their participation in the project. The site, currently privately owned, will see the county and Simon, the property owner, take charge of designing and constructing new restaurant buildings while managing any cost overruns. South Park Community Partners will oversee the development of park improvements and a new micro retail space, including a 500-foot segment of the South Park Loop.

The symphony, a longstanding tenant of the park, will continue to play a vital role in the area post-renovation, reinforcing the cultural significance of the site.
Local business leaders have expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its potential to attract and retain talent while positioning South Park as a vital economic hub for the region. The initiative aligns with broader community goals of enhancing public spaces and quality programming, which are essential for driving investment and fostering a vibrant community.
As the project progresses, city officials are optimistic about its impact on the South Park area and the benefits it will bring to all Charlotte residents.
