Lima City Council passes multiple ordinances including mental health support agreements

In a decisive session, the Lima City Council passed several key ordinances during its regular meeting on April 7, 2025, including significant measures aimed at enhancing community services and infrastructure.

Among the highlights, Ordinance 85-25, which authorizes the construction of the Lima Veterans Memorial Grove, received enthusiastic support from Councilor Wilkerson, who expressed gratitude for the tribute to veterans. This ordinance passed unanimously with an 8-0 vote, reflecting a strong commitment to honoring those who have served.

The council also approved Ordinance 88-25, which establishes a memorandum of understanding with the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaise, and Hardin Counties. This initiative aims to support local programs addressing substance use and mental health issues. Executive Director Tammy Colon emphasized the importance of collaboration in delivering effective community services, highlighting the partnership with the city and county as crucial for success. This ordinance passed with a vote of 6-0, with two council members abstaining.

Additionally, the council moved forward with several other ordinances, including those for emergency repairs at the water treatment plant and leasing equipment for the utilities department, all passing on their first readings with unanimous support.
