Muscatine County records over $700K in quarterly fees amidst financial discussions

The Muscatine County Board convened on April 7, 2025, to review and approve several financial reports and licenses that will impact the community's operations and services.

The meeting began with the approval of the county recorder's report, which detailed fees collected for the first quarter of 2025, amounting to $52,542.82. This was followed by the Muscatine County Sheriff's Office report, which indicated fees of $24,067.13 collected during the same period. The county auditor also reported fees of $3,339.35, while the county treasurer's report showed a significant collection of $652,242.94 in fees. All reports were unanimously approved by the board.

During discussions, board members addressed the current state of interest rates, noting a slight decline in treasury bill rates and its potential impact on certificate of deposit (CD) rates.
