Lakeland Prep students recognized for theater and cross country achievements

The Lakeland School System celebrated student achievements at the recent LSS BOE Business Meeting on April 8, 2025, highlighting the talents of young performers and athletes.

The spotlight shone brightly on Lillian Bode, who received accolades for her standout performance in the school production of "Descendants." The audience was encouraged to attend the show, with officials emphasizing the importance of supporting local arts. Theater directors Lisonbee Garland and Jeff White were also recognized for their contributions to the students' success.

In addition to the arts, the meeting acknowledged Gabe Russell, a student athlete who represented Lakeland Prep at the 2025 TSSAA state cross country championship. Although Gabe was unable to attend, his coach, Matthew Grady, accepted the recognition on his behalf, underscoring the pride the school takes in its athletes.

The meeting concluded with a light-hearted note, as attendees were reminded that they were free to leave if they wished, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere as the board moved on to other business. The recognition of these students not only celebrates their individual accomplishments but also fosters a sense of community pride in Lakeland's educational programs.
