Local teams excel as 10U football reaches semifinals in Carrollton

Appling County's youth sports programs are thriving, with the district's 10-year-old football team advancing to the semifinals this Saturday in Carrollton. The 12U team finished a commendable second in their district, while the 8U team secured third place, showcasing strong performances throughout the season.

In addition to football, basketball registration is set to close this week, with practices beginning on Monday. This past Wednesday, Appling County was recognized at the state athletic meeting in Griffin, receiving awards for both the 12U baseball and swimming programs, marking a third consecutive year of swimming accolades.

The Aquatic Center is currently undergoing repairs, with completion expected by the weekend. New fans are being installed, and a middle school swim meet is scheduled for Tuesday. Looking ahead, Appling County will host the high school region swim meet later in January, welcoming teams from some of Georgia's largest schools, including Waynes County and Valdosta.
