Sandy Springs launches safe streets initiative to eliminate traffic fatalities

Sandy Springs is gearing up for a safer future on its streets, with a bold initiative aimed at reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities to zero. The city has dedicated the past year to developing a comprehensive traffic safety plan, responding to alarming statistics that reveal over 9,400 crashes occurred between 2018 and 2022, including 129 involving pedestrians.

The focus on safety comes as the city grapples with the consequences of aggressive driving, which accounted for more than 350 crashes during the same period. City officials are determined to tackle these issues head-on, emphasizing that while competitive spirit is welcome on the basketball court, it has no place behind the wheel.

Residents are invited to engage in this critical conversation. The final draft of the "Safe Streets for All" report is now available for public review, and community feedback is encouraged.
