Louisiana Education Department launches Gator program with over 22000 applications received

Caleb Moore, Deputy Chief of Staff in school choice, highlighted the program's milestones, including the launch of a pre-eligibility tool for families and ongoing registration for service providers. The program has garnered a 93% satisfaction score from parents regarding the application process, indicating strong community support.

As the committee discussed the implications of the Gator program, they emphasized the importance of ensuring that current voucher students are prioritized in funding allocations. Governor Landry's budget proposal includes an additional $50 million to support this initiative, reflecting a commitment to expanding educational opportunities for Louisiana families.
