School District highlights midyear attendance improvements through community initiatives

The Lakeside Union School District (LUSD) is celebrating significant progress in student attendance, as highlighted during the recent Governing Board meeting. District representatives expressed gratitude to Dr. Taylor and Ms. Fernandez for their efforts in promoting the district's achievements, particularly in reducing chronic absenteeism and enhancing overall attendance rates.

The district reported an impressive 8% increase in outstanding attendance, attributed to various initiatives such as Saturday school and academic recovery programs. These efforts have successfully engaged students, allowing them to make up for missed days and improve their attendance records.

In addition to attendance improvements, the district is focusing on community involvement through partnerships and parent education. LUSD has already hosted six events aimed at increasing parental engagement, with plans for more, including a "Passport to Play" family game night on April 3. This event will feature games from around the world, food trucks, and opportunities for families to connect and enjoy time together.
