Seguin High School honors April Student of the Month Contreras Green at board meeting

The Arlington ISD Board of Trustees meeting on April 3, 2025, highlighted the achievements of outstanding individuals within the district, with a special focus on student recognition and community partnerships.

Contreras Emmanuel Green, a senior from Seguin High School, was honored as the April Student of the Month. Principal Billy Linson praised Green for his exceptional academic performance, leadership as vice president of the National Honor Society, and his positive impact on the school community. Green, who recently recovered from an ACL injury, has excelled in track and is considering Texas Tech University for his studies in architecture. In his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude to his family, teachers, and coaches for their support, emphasizing the importance of education and character.

The meeting also recognized the Arlington Athletics Hall of Honor Foundation with a Community Partner Award for its significant contributions to the district's athletic programs. The foundation has provided over $60,000 in scholarships to student-athletes and hosts an annual banquet to celebrate achievements in the community. Board member Jim Poynter highlighted the foundation's role in fostering a sense of community and honoring the legacy of Arlington's athletic history.

Additionally, Kim Domke received the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) Education Ambassador Award for her leadership in public education and her pivotal role in AISD's transition to new state reporting standards. Her efforts have been instrumental in ensuring the district's compliance and success in educational reporting.

These recognitions underscore Arlington ISD's commitment to celebrating student success and community involvement, reinforcing the district's mission to foster excellence in education and athletics.
