Tarrant County College highlights enrollment growth and dual credit partnerships at Southeast Campus

The Arlington ISD Board of Trustees meeting on April 3, 2025, highlighted significant developments in the partnership between Tarrant County College (TCC) and local high schools, particularly focusing on the Southeast Campus. This year marks the sixtieth anniversary of TCC, which serves approximately 48,000 students across Tarrant County.

During the meeting, TCC representatives emphasized the importance of their flagship programs, including culinary arts, hospitality, nutrition and dietetics, IT cybersecurity, and a unique program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Southeast Campus reported an enrollment of nearly 9,700 students this past fall, with about 17% participating in dual credit programs, which allow high school students to earn college credits.

The collaboration between TCC and Arlington ISD has proven beneficial, with around 30% of students impacted by this partnership. Notably, 64% of the adult population in Arlington has some form of higher education, indicating a strong community commitment to education. The meeting also revealed that 213 Arlington ISD students earned credentials while still in high school last year, showcasing the effectiveness of the dual credit system.

TCC officials expressed satisfaction with the partnership, noting that approximately 52% of dual credit students from Arlington ISD earn a credential before graduation. The college also highlighted its free tuition initiative for high school students, which aims to further enhance educational opportunities in the region.

Overall, the discussions underscored the ongoing commitment to workforce development and educational attainment in Arlington, with both TCC and Arlington ISD working together to meet the needs of the community.
