PepsiCo hosts successful job fair for impacted employees with 30 employers attending

The Sullivan County Economic Development Committee convened on April 3, 2025, to discuss various topics impacting the local workforce and economic initiatives.

The meeting began with a report on a recent job fair organized for employees affected by layoffs at PepsiCo, which took place on March 28. The event attracted 30 employers and was attended by 35 job seekers, receiving positive feedback for its organization and execution. Lorena and her team were commended for their efforts, and they are currently following up with both businesses and job seekers to facilitate further employment opportunities.

Next, the committee addressed funding concerns for the upcoming program year 2025. It was noted that there is a projected loss of $52,000 across three funding streams: adult, dislocated worker, and youth programs. This decrease is attributed to a formula-based allocation rather than any changes at the federal level.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue supporting workforce development and addressing funding challenges as they arise. The committee plans to monitor the situation closely and explore potential solutions to mitigate the impact of the funding shortfall.
