Cowlitz County approves funding for multiple rural public facility projects

In a recent meeting held at the Cowlitz County Commission, officials gathered to discuss a series of funding applications aimed at enhancing public facilities across the region. The City of Grama also sought assistance, asking for $500,000 to address increased costs for a water plant project, which has now ballooned to over $4 million. This project is anticipated to create 250 permanent jobs, highlighting the significant economic impact of these developments.

The Port of Longview presented a two-year funding request of $1 million for a rail capacity expansion project, reflecting the growing demand for rail services in the area. Meanwhile, the City of Longview requested $450,000 for urgent repairs to the Minute Valley Pro Shop, emphasizing the importance of maintaining recreational facilities for the community.

In a notable shift towards long-term planning, the Cowlitz Economic Development Council requested a three-year commitment of $115,000 annually, aiming to stabilize funding for economic initiatives in the region.
