Taunton Public Schools celebrated its annual Recognition Night on March 26, 2025, honoring outstanding students for their achievements and contributions to the community. The event highlighted the dedication and talent of students from Taunton High School, showcasing their commitment to academics, athletics, and community service.
Among the honorees was Logan Rebello, a student recognized for his exemplary representation of Career and Technical Education (CTE) at both state and national levels. Rebello has accumulated over 50 hours of community service and is noted for his maturity and leadership qualities. His continued involvement as a state officer for SkillsUSA Massachusetts was particularly commended, with hopes for his re-election in the coming year.
Leah Garris was also celebrated for her academic excellence and her positive impact on her peers. Teacher Christine Stokely praised Garris for her inclusivity and kindness, emphasizing her role as a supportive member of the school community. Garris's contributions were recognized as making a significant difference in her class.
Additionally, Jillian Daugherty received accolades for her outstanding participation in unified sports. Athletic Director Bridal Dowdy highlighted Daugherty's dedication to teamwork and inclusion, noting her leadership as a two-year captain of the varsity basketball team and her role as a trained referee. Her commitment to both athletics and academics has made her a respected figure at Taunton High School.
The evening also featured recognition for other students, including Ryan Gonsalves, Haley Jackson, Kalia Pierce, and Gregory Westberg, who were acknowledged for their achievements in various programs. The school committee expressed pride in the accomplishments of these students, reinforcing the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
