Laguna Niguel Police Services is ramping up efforts to enhance community safety as spring approaches, with a strong emphasis on traffic and pedestrian safety. In a recent message, Captain Isaac Flores highlighted the importance of vigilance as more residents engage in outdoor activities like walking, jogging, and biking.
With the arrival of longer daylight hours and spring break for students, pedestrian and cyclist activity is expected to rise. Captain Flores urged drivers to remain focused, particularly in busy areas such as shopping plazas, parks, and residential neighborhoods. He emphasized the need for drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.
For pedestrians, the captain advised using designated crosswalks, making eye contact with drivers before crossing, and wearing bright or reflective clothing during nighttime walks. Cyclists are reminded to adhere to traffic laws, wear helmets, and be mindful of both pedestrians and vehicles while sharing the road.
Captain Flores reinforced that community safety is a collective responsibility, urging all residents to take these precautions seriously. He assured the community of the police department's commitment to working closely with residents to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
