Dallas officials are moving forward with a significant enhancement project for the Skillman Corridor, aiming to improve walkability and connectivity in the area. During a recent meeting of the Dallas Skillman Corridor TIF District Board of Directors, a funding request of $1.1 million was presented to cover additional improvements, including hardscape and median enhancements, as well as edge landscaping.

The proposed improvements focus on the area between Church and Sedgwick streets, with the goal of creating a more pedestrian-friendly environment. The enhancements are part of the broader Skillman Street master plan, which seeks to make the corridor more inviting and accessible for residents and visitors alike.

The total estimated cost for these additional improvements is just over $1.2 million. The Public Improvement District (PID) has committed to covering $108,872 of the engineering design costs, leaving the remaining $1.1 million to be funded through the city's transportation and public works department. It is anticipated that the project could be bid and awarded by this fall.

This initiative reflects a concerted effort by city officials to prioritize pedestrian safety and aesthetics, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for those who live and work in the Skillman Corridor.
