The Carmel Small Business Network kicked off its first meeting of the year on March 25, 2025, with an emphasis on community engagement and support for local businesses. Kevin Whited, the meeting host, announced plans for four events throughout the year, including a new breakfast meeting aimed at retailers and a happy hour designed for those unable to attend daytime events.
The meeting, held at the Carmel Police Department, featured a warm welcome and acknowledgments of local sponsors, including Just Love Coffee and Buffalo's, which provided refreshments. Whited encouraged attendees to sign up for the weekly e-newsletter to stay informed about upcoming events and local news.

Subscribe for Free Jim, the Vice President of State Bank, shared a cautionary tale about fraud, urging attendees to remain vigilant about their online security. He highlighted a recent incident where a controller lost significant funds due to a phishing attack, emphasizing the importance of contacting banks immediately if locked out of accounts.
The meeting also spotlighted community initiatives, including a food drive organized by local postal workers. Greg Gormong, a city letter carrier, explained the "Stamp Out Hunger" campaign, which aims to collect food for local food banks. He encouraged small businesses to participate by hosting collection boxes or making donations.
Mayor Sue Finkham addressed the group, discussing the city’s efforts to address potholes, with the street department having filled nearly 700 requests recently. She encouraged residents to report any remaining potholes through the city’s email or app.
The meeting concluded with introductions from various attendees, showcasing the diverse range of businesses and organizations represented in Carmel.
