Planning Commission endorses Mr. Queso's LLC entertainment permit at Landmark Drive

The Cottage Grove Plan Commission convened on March 26, 2025, to discuss a conditional use permit application for Mr. Queso's LLC, which seeks to establish an indoor commercial entertainment venue serving alcohol at 1609 Landmark Drive, the former site of BB Jack's.

During the meeting, members of the public were invited to provide input on the application. The discussion highlighted the urgency of the permit, as the business aims to open as soon as possible. The Commission noted that Mr. Queso's LLC is operated by the same owner as the successful Don McGuy restaurant located nearby, which contributed to a positive outlook for the new venture.

The Commission emphasized that the new permit is necessary because the previous permit granted to BB Jack's does not automatically transfer to new businesses. They confirmed that there would be minimal changes to operations, and the village board had already approved the liquor license, contingent upon the approval of the conditional use permit.

A key point of discussion was the inclusion of an outdoor patio area in the liquor license application. The Commission agreed that the motion to approve the permit should explicitly reference both the indoor and outdoor spaces to ensure clarity in the approval process.

After deliberation, the Commission unanimously approved the conditional use permit for Mr. Queso's LLC, including the outdoor patio area, with staff conditions. This decision marks a significant step forward for the establishment, which is expected to enhance the local dining and entertainment landscape.
