Lacey construction projects progress with police station nearing completion by October

Lacey City Council has made significant strides in its ongoing construction projects, particularly with the new police station, which is on track for substantial completion by October 2025. The building, designed to serve as an emergency management center, is nearing the end of its exterior work, with the metal roofing and brick veneer installation progressing well. Interior finishes are set to begin soon, as the structure is now effectively weatherproofed.

During the recent worksession on March 25, 2025, city officials highlighted the importance of timely equipment delivery, particularly for the emergency generator, which is crucial for the police station's operations. The generator is currently scheduled to arrive on time, alleviating concerns about potential delays.

In addition to the police station, the council discussed several upcoming construction projects for 2025. These include various lift station upgrades, transportation improvements, and facility enhancements. Notably, the Eighth Avenue rehabilitation project aims to improve a lesser-known road that connects key areas of the city, while the Veterans Service Hub will receive ADA accessibility upgrades, supported by a grant.

The council also addressed pedestrian safety with plans for a new crossing on Ruddle Road, expected to be completed by early 2026. This project aims to enhance safety for residents, particularly families crossing the busy road.
