Sirona Recovery partners with Justice Point to enhance youth diversion programs

Sawyer County is taking significant steps to support families and reduce youth involvement in the justice system. During a recent Health and Human Services meeting, officials discussed a new program aimed at equipping parents and families with essential communication skills to foster healthier home environments. This initiative targets youth who are either currently involved with the justice system or at risk of becoming involved, with the goal of diverting them from formal legal proceedings.

The program is a collaboration with Sirona Recovery, which specializes in youth diversion, and is linked to Justice Point, an organization that manages adult diversion programs. By focusing on early intervention, the initiative aims to decrease the number of out-of-home placements for youth, ultimately reducing the overall caseload for the county.

Additionally, the county plans to hire a youth truancy and diversion worker, who will primarily work with schools to encourage attendance and promote the importance of education. This proactive approach is designed to keep children engaged in their schooling, reinforcing the message that being in school is the best option for their development.
