In May, a total of 275 trees were planted, including 54 along the new sections of the Riverwalk and 41 in Regna Park. The project, costing approximately $80,500, also included the planting of street trees as part of a free street tree program. The city has been awarded a $25,000 urban forestry grant from the Department of Natural Resources for 2024, which will support public outreach efforts. This includes the installation of tree tags that provide information about the trees, including a QR code linking to a dedicated webpage with detailed descriptions.
Lastly, Rick announced plans for a new playground in the Villa Park neighborhood, set to replace existing structures. A volunteer information meeting was held in May to engage the community in this project, which is scheduled for construction in August.
The discussions during this meeting reflect the city's commitment to enhancing recreational facilities and fostering community involvement in local projects. As these initiatives progress, they are expected to significantly enrich the quality of life for West Bend residents, promoting outdoor activities and environmental awareness.
