The project is contingent upon receiving a special exemption from the city, which is necessary for the company to apply for housing credits from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA). The application deadline for these credits is April 15, and the approval process typically takes three to five months. If successful, the timeline for obtaining building permits and commencing construction could extend the project completion to 2027.
Cooper Companies emphasized their commitment to long-term property management, stating that they do not sell their properties but rather focus on maintaining and rehabilitating them.
