Milford Exempted School District is set to enhance its educational offerings and operational efficiency following key decisions made during the Board of Education meeting on March 18, 2025. The board approved the introduction of two new elective courses at Milford Junior High, "Flight and Space" and "Magic of Electrons," which will be available to sixth graders starting this fall. This initiative, in partnership with Great Oaks, aims to provide students with diverse learning opportunities while sharing the costs of teaching staff.
In addition to curriculum advancements, the board reported a significant increase in employee engagement, with 75% of staff participating in the Q12 Gallup survey, marking a 10% rise from the previous year. Improvements were noted in 10 out of 12 survey areas, prompting district administration to analyze the data further and share insights with staff.

The existing turf, which has surpassed its expected lifespan, will be funded largely through savings accumulated from turf rentals over the past 12 years.
Furthermore, the board discussed operational efficiencies, including a contract amendment with Peterman for transportation services. This amendment is projected to save the district nearly one million dollars while extending the contract and providing a $200,000 credit for the upcoming year.
The meeting concluded with congratulations to Milford staff members recognized for their excellence, including Trina Panko, named Teacher of the Year, and Carol Gulick, awarded for Educational Excellence Support. These developments reflect the district's ongoing efforts to enhance educational quality and operational effectiveness, ensuring a positive impact on the community.
