Austintown Township celebrated a successful inaugural Community Day on August 10, 2024, bringing together over 30 local resources and organizations to foster community spirit and engagement. The event, held along Patriot Boulevard with support from sponsors like Quaker State and Bloom, Biker Brewhouse, and Cracker Barrel, showcased the talents of local fire and police departments and featured a pageant for young residents.
During the festivities, two students, Logan and Kami, were crowned the first Little Miss and Mister Austintown, highlighting the event's focus on youth involvement. The Community Events initiative aims to create a safe, family-friendly environment while recognizing and giving back to local organizations.
The township's efforts have already resulted in financial contributions to several community programs, including Task Force 20, which supports veterans dealing with PTSD, and the Austintown youth football and cheerleading teams, which boast over 200 athletes this year. Notably, the Austintown Fitch Girls Wrestling team is gaining momentum, with plans for a full female varsity schedule this season.
The success of this first Community Day sets a positive precedent for future events, with organizers expressing gratitude for the township's support and enthusiasm for upcoming gatherings. The community looks forward to continuing this tradition of celebration and support for local initiatives.
