Tudor House Open House attracts 1000 visitors and announces public hearing

The City Council of New Franklin held a meeting on December 18, 2024, where several community initiatives and projects were highlighted. The meeting began with expressions of gratitude for the success of the Tudor House Christmas Open House, which attracted over 1,000 visitors and featured performances from choirs across three school districts, along with various festive activities.

Council members acknowledged the contributions of volunteers, particularly Judy Williams and Katie Smith, who played key roles in organizing the event. The council also thanked local police officers for their involvement in community events, including the "Burgers and Badges" fundraiser, which raised $3,500, and the "Shop with the Cops" program, where officers treated local children to a day of fun and provided $500 in gift cards for families in need.

In addition to community support, the council reported progress on a significant water project, which is currently compliant with federal EPA requirements. This project is part of a larger plan to develop a $4 million visitor center, set to open later next year at no cost to residents.

The meeting also announced a public hearing scheduled for January 2, 2025, at 6 PM, to discuss planning and zoning recommendations related to the Tudor House.

Lastly, the winners of the holiday lights competition were revealed, with several homes recognized for their festive displays. First-place winners included homes on Vanderhook and Sylvania Drive, while second and third places were awarded to homes on Woodcrest Avenue and Bolander Road, respectively. All winners will receive certificates from the city.
