During the Montgomery Independent School District (MISD) Board Meeting held on March 18, 2025, a significant highlight was the celebration of student achievements in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo art contest. This annual event showcases the artistic talents of students across the district, and this year, several young artists were recognized for their exceptional work.

Since 2018, MISD has participated in the rodeo, allowing elementary, junior high, and high school students to submit their artwork. Among the winners, Aurora Anderson from Lone Star Elementary received a gold medal for her artwork, while Angelina Napolitano from Montgomery Elementary was awarded Best in Show, earning a prestigious trophy. Other notable winners included Hannah Gomez and Claire Wright from Montgomery Junior High, both of whom received blue ribbons, and Paige Fitzsimmons from Montgomery High School, who also won Best in Show for her impressive sketch of her grandfather.

Settles encouraged community members to attend the upcoming Montgomery District Art Show on April 26, where more student artwork will be displayed, further highlighting the district's commitment to fostering artistic talent. The event promises to be a celebration of creativity, featuring food trucks and a showcase of the district's best young artists.
