Bellevue City Council is taking significant steps to enhance public safety and community engagement following a recent meeting on March 18, 2025. A key proposal aimed at reducing public disorder was discussed, emphasizing the importance of public safety as the city's top priority. The council has directed further research into the proposal, with plans to revisit it in six months after the establishment of a community court.

During the meeting, suggestions were made to expand the proposal's scope by gathering more comprehensive data, including statistics on non-resident offenses and unreported thefts. This approach aims to provide a balanced assessment of public safety issues in Bellevue, highlighting the need to consider both offenders and victims in future reports.

In addition to public safety discussions, the council received an update on the "Keep Bellevue Beautiful" program, which has made strides in community involvement since its launch in 2023. The program focuses on litter cleanup, an Adopt-a-Street initiative, and abandoned shopping cart retrieval. Since its inception, the program has organized 13 cleanup events, engaging over 100 volunteers and removing significant amounts of litter from public spaces.

The Adopt-a-Street program has seen enthusiastic participation, with 60 groups currently involved in maintaining local streets. This initiative not only beautifies the city but also fosters community spirit and collaboration among residents and businesses.

Looking ahead, the city plans to host several events, including Earth Day activities and signature cleanup days, to further encourage community participation in keeping Bellevue clean and safe.
