Key speaker highlighted that Custom Fit is not limited to large companies; even sole proprietors can benefit as long as they are registered with the state. The application process is streamlined, requiring minimal information and can be completed digitally, which encourages participation despite the perceived bureaucratic hurdles.

A significant point raised was the urgency for businesses to utilize available funds before they expire. The funding cycle runs from January to December, with a notable decrease in available resources as the year progresses. Businesses were urged to act quickly to secure training reimbursements, emphasizing that unutilized funds could lead to reduced allocations in subsequent years.

The meeting also showcased success stories, including a reimbursement example where a business received $2,200 back for mental health training, illustrating the financial benefits of the program. Participants were encouraged to explore various training options, from technical skills like Excel to soft skills development, which is increasingly in demand.

In addition to Custom Fit, the board introduced the Workforce Promise initiative, aimed at enhancing soft skills among students. This program offers badges for competencies such as communication and teamwork, with a commitment to provide remediation for employers who hire graduates needing additional support.

The meeting concluded with a call for community involvement, inviting local businesses to support UBTech through scholarships and upcoming fundraising events, including a fine art auction focused on wildlife and outdoor themes. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen the local workforce and ensure businesses have access to the training they need to thrive.
