Michelle Bond advocates budget for new tennis and pickleball courts at Lakeview Park

During the recent Middleton Common Council meeting, community member Michelle Bond advocated for prudent spending on the upcoming tennis and pickleball courts at Lakeview Park. Bond, who serves on the parks and recreation committee, emphasized the importance of allocating budget resources effectively, particularly regarding a proposed $28,000 funding item for a 24-foot long rebound board.

Bond expressed her belief that while the addition of the rebound board could enhance the facility, it may not be necessary for the community's needs. She pointed out that a simple chain link fence could suffice for players to practice their skills, drawing on her own experiences of using a garage door as a practice surface in her youth.

The discussion highlighted the council's commitment to improving recreational facilities while ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. As the city moves forward with the development of the new courts, the focus remains on creating a valuable community resource that meets the needs of residents without unnecessary expenditures.
