LaSalle County is gearing up for a significant boost in tourism with a new marketing campaign aimed at attracting visitors to the region. During a recent government meeting, officials discussed a collaborative initiative between Star Rock Lodge, the Village of North Utica, and Heritage Corridor, which seeks to promote the unique attractions of LaSalle County, particularly Star Rock State Park.
The campaign, which has a total budget of $50,000, is designed to entice both new and returning visitors by highlighting the area's natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The marketing strategy includes a blend of traditional and digital advertising, featuring a video campaign that showcases local attractions such as waterfalls, canyons, and various activities like hiking and dining. The campaign will run from June to November, targeting families and outdoor enthusiasts primarily in the Northwest Chicago suburbs.
To fund this initiative, the group is requesting a $20,000 contribution from LaSalle County, which would cover 40% of the campaign costs. The remaining funds will be provided by the Lodge and the Village of North Utica. This partnership marks a new approach to tourism promotion in the area, with officials expressing optimism about its potential to increase overnight stays and boost local businesses.
In addition to the main campaign, the meeting also touched on the upcoming grand opening of the Market on Mill retail plaza in North Utica, which aims to attract visitors and support local entrepreneurs. The plaza will feature 12 new retail shops and is expected to enhance the overall appeal of the area.
As the campaign gears up, officials are hopeful that it will not only draw more visitors but also foster a sense of community and collaboration among local businesses, ultimately benefiting the entire LaSalle County region.
