Cumming City Council has taken significant steps to enhance local business operations and community engagement during its recent meeting on March 22, 2025. The council approved two alcohol license applications and amended the city’s alcohol ordinance, paving the way for more flexible business practices.
The council unanimously approved an alcohol beverage license for Washington's Wharf, located at 451 Vision Drive, Suite H 101. This license allows the establishment to sell distilled spirits, malt beverages, and wine for consumption on the premises. The application met all city requirements, including a successful background check on the applicant.
Similarly, Slice Ability, located at 420 Vision Drive, Suite A 102, received approval for its alcohol license to sell malt beverages and wine. Like Washington's Wharf, Slice Ability fulfilled all necessary criteria, ensuring a smooth approval process.
In a move aimed at modernizing local regulations, the council also adopted an amendment to the alcohol ordinance. This amendment removes previous restrictions that limited restaurants to delivering only one alcoholic beverage to a customer at a time and allows for happy hour promotions. It clarifies that multiple categories of alcohol can be sold at discounted rates and permits businesses to set specific times for these discounts, enhancing their promotional flexibility.
The changes are expected to foster a more vibrant dining and entertainment scene in Cumming, allowing local establishments to better compete and attract customers. The council's decisions reflect a commitment to supporting local businesses while ensuring compliance with community standards. As these new regulations take effect, residents can look forward to a broader range of dining options and promotional events in their city.
