Spring break is just around the corner for Park Ridge CCSD 64, and the Board of Education meeting on March 22 highlighted not only the upcoming holiday but also the incredible contributions of staff and students within the district.
Michelle Barclay, principal of Jefferson Early Childhood Center, took the spotlight to honor Lynn Condon, the district's dedicated physical therapist. Condon's commitment to inclusive practices and her ability to empower students were celebrated, with Barclay expressing gratitude for her unwavering support. "You inspire all of us not only to strive for excellence but to achieve it," said Barclay, emphasizing Condon's impact on the community.
The meeting also recognized the "Butterfly Buddies," a group of students at Jefferson who exemplify friendship and support. Their achievements were acknowledged with applause, showcasing the district's focus on fostering a sense of belonging among students.
In addition, students from Franklin and Washington schools were celebrated for their participation in the "Battle of the Books," where they read an impressive 40 books. Their hard work and dedication to reading were commended, reinforcing the district's commitment to literacy.
Alyssa Zamek, a teacher and administrator, received special recognition for her service to others and her instrumental role in guiding the district's student services action plan. Her efforts in supporting specialized programs were highlighted, showcasing the collaborative spirit within the district.
