Sharon Gregory bids farewell after 35 years of teaching at Tallawanda High School

In the heart of Talawanda High School, a bittersweet moment unfolded as Ms. Sharon Gregory, a beloved educator, delivered her final presentation to the Talawanda Board on March 20, 2025. After 35 years of dedicated service, Ms. Gregory, who has shaped countless young minds through her Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) classes, shared her journey and the achievements of her students, leaving a lasting impression on the board and community.

Gathered in the boardroom, Ms. Gregory introduced her students, who proudly showcased their culinary skills, including the intricate art of making macarons. “They did awesome,” she beamed, reflecting on their accomplishments. The students, representing the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), expressed their gratitude for the life skills they gained through the program, from cooking to public speaking. Each student shared personal stories of growth, emphasizing how Ms. Gregory’s mentorship had instilled confidence and fostered friendships.

As Ms. Gregory prepared to retire, she highlighted the extensive community involvement of her classes, including a recent blood drive and a talent show. “We do a lot in the community,” she noted, proudly mentioning the 18,000 hours of work-based learning her students had accumulated. Her commitment to teaching extended beyond the classroom, as she emphasized the importance of life skills, sanitation, and teamwork.
