Peachtree City is gearing up for a major expansion of recreational facilities, with a proposed pickleball complex taking center stage at the recent City Council workshop meeting. The ambitious plan includes 24 courts, a multipurpose indoor facility, and ample parking, all situated at the intersection of Rockaway Road and Highway 74.
City officials presented a detailed concept plan that aims to enhance the community's recreational offerings while addressing concerns from local residents. The proposed site will not only feature the pickleball courts but also a splash pad, walking paths, and a nature observation area, promoting both active and passive recreational opportunities.
However, the plan is not without its challenges. Council members raised concerns about the proximity of the courts to nearby residential homes, particularly regarding noise levels. A suggestion was made to relocate some courts to ensure compliance with a 500-foot distance requirement from residences, which could alleviate potential disturbances for neighbors.
In addition to the pickleball complex, discussions also touched on improvements at Braylen Park, including the addition of a cricket pitch and updated soccer fields. The aim is to create a multi-use space that caters to various sports while enhancing the park's identity and usability.
As the city moves forward, officials emphasized the importance of community feedback in refining these plans. The next steps will involve soliciting input from residents and stakeholders to ensure that the developments meet the needs and expectations of the community. With these exciting proposals on the table, Peachtree City is poised to become a hub for recreational activities, fostering a vibrant community spirit.
