A significant discussion on workforce development took center stage during the Queen Creek Town Council meeting on March 20, 2025, as council members highlighted the growing demand for aviation maintenance technicians. The conversation focused on the collaboration between Gulfstream and local community colleges, particularly Chandler Gilbert Community College, to create a robust pipeline of skilled workers.
Council member Brown emphasized the lucrative opportunities available for students entering the aviation maintenance field. “If you're a student interested in becoming an AMP mechanic, you can come out at 23 or 24 years old and make a really great salary between $75,000 and $90,000,” he noted, underscoring the financial benefits of pursuing this career path.
The partnership between Gulfstream and other aviation companies, such as Textron and Cessna, aims to enhance community college programs and ensure a steady supply of qualified mechanics. “They’re not trying to be parochial and saying, these are my Gulfstream employees. They’re saying, let’s all work together,” Brown explained, highlighting the collaborative effort to benefit the entire industry.
Vice Mayor Martineau expressed gratitude for the economic development initiatives, recognizing their positive impact on families and the community. “What a blessing this is just for families and for community,” he stated, reinforcing the importance of these job opportunities.
As the demand for aviation maintenance technicians continues to rise, the collaboration between educational institutions and industry leaders is poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future workforce in Queen Creek and beyond.
