Queen Creek recognizes youth contributions and combats retail theft with Target partnership

In the heart of Queen Creek, the Town Council gathered on March 20, 2025, under the warm glow of city hall lights, to celebrate community achievements and address pressing local issues. The evening began with heartfelt recognition of the town's exceptional youth, highlighting their contributions and resilience. Mayor and council members expressed their admiration, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and support for all children, particularly those with special needs.

As the meeting progressed, Chief Bryce took the floor to discuss the police department's ongoing efforts to combat retail theft in collaboration with local businesses. He shared the success of a recent operation that resulted in nearly 20 arrests and the recovery of approximately $20,000 in stolen property. This initiative, which involved partnerships with businesses like Target, showcased the power of community collaboration in addressing crime. Chief Bryce praised the officers involved and the vital role of local businesses in creating a safer environment for residents.

The council also celebrated the success of the Friends of Horseshoe Park, who organized a well-attended rodeo that attracted visitors from out of state, despite challenging weather conditions. The mayor highlighted the event's growth, noting a significant increase in vendors and the rodeo's recognition as one of the top small rodeos by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).

In a nod to the future, the Mayor's Teen Advisory Committee reported on their recent meeting, where they discussed marketing strategies and planned events aimed at engaging local youth. The committee is set to host a "Teen Takeover" area at the upcoming Spring into QC event, providing a space for teens to connect and participate in fun activities.
