City of Margate celebrates 25 years of service by Erin Pope and others

During the recent Margate City Commission meeting, a heartfelt recognition ceremony highlighted the dedication of city employees who have reached significant milestones in their service. The event celebrated the contributions of several individuals, showcasing their commitment to the community.

Among those honored was Erin Pope, a community service aide in the police department, who marked an impressive 25 years of service. Pope is noted for being the longest-serving member of the service aide unit, having pioneered roles such as the first service aide field training officer and a traffic homicide investigator. Her recent assignment involved reorganizing the property and evidence department, a task she has excelled in, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to improving city operations.

Other employees recognized included Police Lieutenant Sean Coben and Driver Engineer Richard Lacy, both celebrating 25 years of service, alongside Police Sergeant Jared Schwartz with 20 years, and Firefighter Paramedic Keith Kennedy, who has served for 10 years. Additionally, Roger Roberts and Utility Service Representative Terry Ann McKenzie Lewis were acknowledged for their 10 and 5 years of service, respectively.

Public Works Director Gio Bautista also presented a 5-year service award to Tyler Gough, who has contributed to the city's Parks and Recreation department.

This recognition not only honors the individual achievements of these employees but also reflects the city’s appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the Margate community. As these employees continue to serve, their efforts play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents.
