Henry County officials are moving forward with a significant development project that promises to enhance community safety and infrastructure. During the Zoning Advisory Board meeting on January 9, 2025, a development agreement was discussed, emphasizing the importance of ensuring quality and safety standards for the future.
Key highlights from the meeting included the commitment to dedicate seven acres for fire and police services, a move aimed at bolstering emergency response capabilities in the area. The developer also agreed to install sprinklers in all townhome units within blocks of six or more, addressing fire safety concerns directly.

While participation in these systems will be voluntary, the police department encourages residents to join for enhanced crime prevention.
Traffic improvements were also a focal point of the discussion. The developer has collaborated with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to complete a Development of Regional Impact (DRI) study, which includes plans for lane widening, new intersections, and other enhancements—all funded by private investment rather than taxpayer dollars.
As the meeting transitioned to public comments, community members expressed their views, including concerns about water management related to the development. The board is expected to consider these inputs as they finalize the development agreement.
This project represents a proactive step towards improving safety and infrastructure in Henry County, with long-term benefits anticipated for residents. The board's commitment to maintaining high standards and engaging with community feedback will be crucial as the project progresses.
