The most notable initiative is the extensive widening of Cactus Road, which will span two miles from Cotton Lane to Reims. Construction began in March 2024 and is expected to be completed by December 2025. This project aims to improve traffic flow and safety by adding traffic signals, sidewalks, and street lights, ultimately creating a vital east-west corridor.
Another key project, dubbed "Little Cactus," involves a half-mile widening of Cactus Road from Litchfield to the BNSF rail crossing, with completion anticipated by the end of 2025. This project will also enhance safety at the rail crossing and improve traffic signals in the area.
