La Paz County residents will soon have the opportunity to engage with local government as public meetings for the comprehensive plan are set to take place later this month. The meetings will feature a draft plan for community review and discussion, providing a platform for residents to voice their opinions and contribute to the future of the county.
Scheduled for January 28 through January 30, the meetings will be held at various locations, including the Arenberg Fire Department, Centennial Community Center, Baus Public Library, Parker Senior Center, and the Courtside Community Center. These sessions are designed to encourage community participation and ensure that residents have a say in the planning process.
In addition to the comprehensive plan discussions, the meeting highlighted a significant announcement from the Bureau of Reclamation regarding Lake Mavalier, also known as the Parker Strip. A one-foot drawdown of the lake will begin on January 10 and is expected to last until January 27, although this timeline may be subject to change.
The meeting also touched on the recent sale of KOPZ radio station, a long-standing local media outlet that has served the community for over 30 years. The closure of the station is anticipated to leave a notable gap in local broadcasting, as many residents have relied on it for news and entertainment.
As La Paz County prepares for these important discussions and transitions, community members are encouraged to participate actively in shaping their environment and addressing local issues.
