Board approves temporary appointment of Dr Anju Goel as Public Health Officer

Lake County's Board of Supervisors has taken a significant step to ensure continued public health services by approving a temporary appointment of Dr. Anju Goel as the Public Health Officer. This decision, made during their meeting on March 18, 2025, comes in response to the resignation of Dr. Duen, effective March 31, which would have left a critical gap in health services.

Dr. Goel, who has an extensive background in healthcare and has served as a health officer in various counties, was recommended for the position. The board approved a professional services contract for Dr. Goel for a term of six months, with a total amount not to exceed $49,860. The contract stipulates a rate of $165 per hour for her services, along with an additional $10.50 per hour for on-call duties.

Health Services Director Arton emphasized the importance of this appointment, noting that the arrangement will provide full coverage during the transition period. The board anticipates that the contract will likely be utilized for about three to four months, allowing time to recruit a permanent health officer or negotiate terms for a longer-term solution.

In addition to this key decision, the meeting also introduced Lisa Farrocco as the new Deputy Director of Finance and Administration, marking a fresh start for the department as it navigates these changes.
