The Tullahoma Planning Commission convened on March 17, 2025, to discuss significant developments in the city, including a proposed site plan for a new healthcare facility. The primary focus of the meeting was the Centerstone Tullahoma campus, which aims to establish an 18,000 square foot specialized health care center at 1816 North Washington Street. This facility is intended to support existing National Health Service Corps (NHSC) facilities in the area.
During the meeting, it was clarified that site plans for commercial developments will now be routinely presented to the Planning Commission, a practice that had lapsed since March 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Commission emphasized the importance of reviewing these plans to stay informed about local developments. While commercial site plans will be reviewed, individual home site plans will not fall under the Commission's jurisdiction, as those are managed by the building and codes department.

The design incorporates permeable pavement to mitigate stormwater runoff and includes a landscaping plan that meets city regulations. A portion of the site will remain undisturbed for potential future development.
The Planning Commission staff recommended approval of the site plan, contingent upon the applicant meeting specific planning considerations before obtaining building permits. These include submitting a signed long-term maintenance agreement and updating details for the dumpster enclosure to comply with city standards. The Public Works Department has indicated their support for the project, provided these conditions are met.
This meeting marks a significant step in Tullahoma's ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare facilities in the community, reflecting a commitment to improving local health services and infrastructure.
