Catoosa County Public Schools (CCPS) is celebrating a historic achievement with its highest graduation rate ever, reaching an impressive 90.81 percent for the 2024 four-year graduation rate. This figure not only surpasses the state average of 85.4 percent but also highlights the district's strong commitment to student success.
In addition to graduation rates, all three high schools in the district have earned Advanced Placement (AP) honor status, showcasing a remarkable 25 percent increase in student participation in AP courses. This growth reflects the district's dedication to providing advanced educational opportunities for its students.
Recognition for excellence extends beyond graduation rates and AP courses. Britney Clark from Ringgold Middle School has been named CCPS Teacher of the Year, exemplifying the high standards of teaching within the district. Furthermore, four outstanding students have been awarded the $10,000 REACH scholarship, which opens new doors for their future endeavors.
The Catoosa County Board of Education has also achieved notable recognition, earning the GSBA Exemplary School Board Award for the tenth consecutive year, the highest honor available. CCPS has been nominated in three categories for the Times Free Press Best of the Best in North Georgia, including Best Employer, Best Teacher (Megan Shearer at Heritage), and Best School (Battlefield Primary).
Across all grade levels, CCPS students have outperformed both the state and the RESA in all four core subject areas, demonstrating the effectiveness of the district's educational strategies. The commitment to student success is further illustrated by the completion of letters training modules by elementary teachers, enhancing their understanding of the science of reading. This training is being implemented through the Reading 2 program, which equips teachers with effective strategies to engage students in literacy development.
CCPS students have also shown exceptional performance on the 2024 SAT, ranking third highest in Georgia, a testament to the hard work of both students and teachers. Additionally, there has been a significant increase in dual enrollment participation, providing students with more opportunities to advance their education.
As CCPS moves forward, the district remains focused on ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed. The commitment to academic excellence and the strategic initiatives in place are paving the way for a bright future for the students and the community.
