Goldsboro City Council finalizes Main Street agreement and office lease with DGDC

The Goldsboro City Council meeting on March 17, 2025, focused on the annual Main Street agreement and the partnership between the city and the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation (DGDC).

The meeting highlighted the completion of the annual assessment process, which led to the presentation of the Main Street agreement. This document outlines the expectations and requirements for both the city and the DGDC as part of their accredited Main Street program.

Additionally, the council discussed the lease agreement allowing the DGDC to use office space at no cost on the first floor of 116 North Center Street. The DGDC staff occupies three offices and has access to shared facilities, including a conference room and break room. The city provides essential services such as power, water, and custodial support, similar to what is offered to other city departments.

In return, the DGDC is responsible for maintaining the building, covering insurance, pest control, and property taxes for the second floor, which includes optional municipal service district taxes for nonprofit organizations.

The draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was shared with the executive committee of the DGDC and will be revisited for a vote following the council's discussions. This partnership aims to enhance the downtown area and support local development initiatives.
