Arbor Day is officially set for April 25, 2025, in the Village of Indian Head Park, as announced during the recent board meeting. Village President Amy Jo Wittenberg proclaimed the day, highlighting the essential role trees play in enhancing the community's environment and quality of life.
The proclamation emphasized the numerous benefits of trees, including reducing erosion, conserving energy, and improving air quality. Wittenberg urged residents, businesses, and community organizations to engage in tree planting and educational activities to foster a greener future.
In a follow-up discussion, board member Gavin revealed plans for a community tree planting event at Blackhawk Park, featuring the Marmol Maple as a primary choice for its large shade capabilities. The village's Public Works staff will lead the initiative, ensuring that the necessary trees are available in time for the celebration.
To further commemorate Arbor Day, a cookout will be held at the Public Works facility, inviting residents to join in the festivities and celebrate the importance of trees in their community. This event promises to strengthen community ties while promoting environmental stewardship.
